History - Background information

Daryl Prowse grew up in Wellington, New Zealand, the youngest of five boys in a very musical family. He studied piano from the age of five, taking up the saxophone later, and studied music at the Conservatorium here in Wellington for three years gaining a diploma of music, majoring in the double bass. He later gained a teaching diploma at the Wellington teachers college in 1996.
Touring with local and overseas acts was great experience for Daryl. Acts included; The Drifters, Gray Bartlett, Maria Dallas, The Inkspots, Dalvanius Prime and The Fascinations, and Don Estelle a.k.a. Lofty from "It ain't half hot mum", and Toni Williams to name a few.
By day Daryl is an Itinerant Music Teacher; that is he teaches several different instruments one-to-one, to students at several colleges in the Wellington/Hutt Valley area.
Frances Prowse:
I was born in North Yorkshire, England and emigrated to Auckland, New Zealand with my parents as a toddler. Looking back, I always loved to sing and had more than the usual teen fascination for popular music, memorising songs easily.
I moved to Wellington in 1994 and met Daryl who taught me all he knew about singing and the music business.
We established "Razzle Dazzle" in 1997, playing dine and dances as a duo, and chartered clubs, where we were later introduced to the ballroom and sequence dancing circuit, learning new material and about the preferred speeds and styles for dancing. A few dancing friends we made along the way continue to give us valuable advice which helps no end.
